Now the straps will come together as following:
Make sure that the right strap is on the right side of the needle and the left strap is on the left. Thus, the stitches of the right strap are knitted first. The 24 (12+12) stitches will be treated as one piece now for a few cable units. This means the cable structure will be different:
Row 1: Put 3 stitches on a cable needle in front of the work. Knit 3 stitches. Knit 3 stitches of cable needle. Put 6 stitches on a cable needle in front of the work and knit 3 stitches. Knit 3 stitches of cable needle and hold the cable needle with the remnant 3 stitches in front of the work. Knit 3 stitches. Knit the 3 stitches of the cable needle. Put 3 stitches on the cable needle. Knit 3 stitches. Knit 3 stitches of the cable needle. End of row.
Row 2: Purl all stitches
Row 3: Knit all stitches
Row 4: Purl all stitches
Row 5: Knit all stitches
Row 6: Knit all stitches
Repeat from row 1, until … cable units are knit. Knit row 1 for a last time. Separate the straps again (12-12 stitches). Knit further as in the first part of the pattern until each strap is long enough to fit your body.

  1. I love the dress and I'm in the process of knitting the straps but I was a bit confused. What exactly did you mean by the cable units are knit

  2. Hi! By cable units I mean the six rows together that form a 'unit' of the cable. Good luck!
